11.11

Today is November 11th 09.  (09.11.11)

In Melbourne there is a Shrine of Remembrance to honor those who died for the country during WorldWar and there is a hall inside which contains a carved stone written “Greater Love Hath No Man”. It said that every 11th day of the 11th month at 11am, a mirror reflects the sun’s light onto the stone to spotlight the word LOVE

[taken from RBC - ODB]

While in korea…Nov 11th also a special day that has a relation with LOVE~

Pepero 01
Taken in MyeongDong – Nov 10th

That is the common view in Seoul to welcome Nov 11th.

Well, there are a lot of couple days in here like Valentine Day, White day and one of it is today (Nov 11).
Today is Pepero Day (빼빼로 데이 – PePeRo DeI). And (for couple) it’s time to exchange Pepero each other~

I think this is the day that happens only in Korea, because I’ve never found something like this in Indonesia. And probably it has some relation with advertisement thing (just a thought ^ ^).

But why it’s called Pepero Day?

Pepero02

Because there’s a snack called PePeRo that looks like a stick. So when you hold this snack one on each hand, it will give you number 11 (eleven). I think that’s why Nov 11th (11.11) is chosen as PePeRo Day.

So happy PePeRo day~~ ^_^

Cute Weather Forecast

Posted in Just Info, Korean Life, Misc, Weather with tags on November 6, 2009 by 7ustm3

Since I came here, I start to check on weather forecast everyday. Totally different with condition in Indonesia huh :) .

But why should we check the weather forecast everyday (in here)?

Because, the weather here is quite unpredictable. I thought I can say goodbye to 20-something celcius, since it touched -4 couple of days ago. But somehow tomorrow is predicted to be 20 at noon.
So..checking weather forecast helps you to think about what you should bring and wear for the next day.

BUT, wait…

the weather forecast that I saw on newspaper was not only that. ^_^
Actually it’s in daily newspaper, so it’s daily thing (esp for local people) but it looks cute to me.

CuteWeatherForecast(ignore the date ^ ^)

So what makes it cute is the right part… Before I just think about what should I bring and wear for the next day, but in here, they put more~~

  • 나들이 (NaDeulI) : going out -> 80%
    Note : Going out is ok..
  • 빨래 (PalLae) : washing -> 70%
    Note : Thin cloth will get dry well.
  • 세차 (SeCha) : car washing -> 90%
    Note : make it  like a new one
    xixixi cute note…. n i think it’s an important thing for those who have a car~
  • 불쾌 (BulKwae) : humidity-> 70%
    Note : (err not sure what they said)
    This what i like from this forecast, though I don’t understand the word, but the picture quite help, doesn’t it?
  • 냉방 (NaengBang): Air Conditioning -> 40%
    Note : Wear a cool (or refreshing) cloth
    So since it’s not cold, wear a cloth that makes you feel fresh
  • 운동 (UnDong) : Sports -> 70%
    Note : do sports for  fun
  • 공해 (GongHae) : Pollution -> 80%
    Note : Bright atmosphere is needed.

End of weather forecast~

Wow~ Things that I like from this forecast is informative, cute, not only informing but also reminding the citizen (like the pollution thing).
And especially for foreigner like me, I can guess though I don’t understand the words ^_^

Some people believe the weather forecast, some don’t~
The rest is yours ^_^

Ps : Feel free to correct for the translation ^_^.

And tomorrow’s weather is predicted to be (a bit) warmer than today… 12C – 20C
(Welcome back late autumn~~)

Pass it ^_^

When autumn was still on the air, a day before the test I was worry bout the next day test. Even till at nite i was worrying about the writing part and lucky to have friend that gave me some tips n trick in writing part.

On the exam day, tried to calm my self, had lunch with friend in Italian resto near campus, prepared my self a bit then went to the exam place. On the station another friend was already there, to guide me to the exam place, cos I had no idea too where is it.

In front of the university gate, some aunties sold snacks, pens, everything that relate with exam preparation. Also there was a corner that sold book for the exam preparation.
Thnx to my friend for the guidance and the choco (which i believed) increase the concentration ^ ^

Moo~~

White Heart
Click here for full picture ^ ^

Remember this song??

Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
And on that farm he had a cow, E-I-E-I-O.
With a moo moo here and a moo moo there
Here a moo, there a moo, everywhere a moo moo
Old MacDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O.

[lyric is taken from wiki and the instrument can be heard in here]

So, it’s the sounds of… a COW

Couple of days ago, I joined the field trip from campus and one of it was going to the farm.

Farm -> met cow.
Cow -> milk (barbecue beef???? hahaha sorry cow~) .

So so, one of the farm worker showed the method of milking a cow (in Korean). It was interesting, cos I’ve never seen it directly, moreover tried it…  (feel free to see the video, if u’re curious)

Another new experiences was feeding the cow.

One thing the I just knew is….cow’s tongue is very strong!!
And don’t be afraid with them, cos they wont bite u ^^ cos most of them don’t have teeth (but i saw one the big 6 years old cow has teeth looo, but it looked flat~ so still it’s not dangerous)

So the today’s just for fun :
(Usually) if human drinks water, baby drinks milks, so the baby cow drinks ???? Read more »

Brrrrr~~~

Posted in Korean Food, Korean Life, Video, Weather, Winter on November 2, 2009 by 7ustm3

As predicted, today’s temperature is going down! and will be a bit lower for tomorrow morning..

Most of people that I met today said one word : COLD… or 추워~~
Yeah it was -1 and now it’s 1, and the wind is doing a very good cooperation with  this weather. Brrrrr….

My friend told me, there’s one snack that used to be eaten in winter. It’s called 호떡 (HoTteok, not Hot Dog loo ^_^ )..
And somehow that words just splashed on my head.. 호떡 (HoTteok) then imaging i’m eating it now… Nyam nyam… with hot melted sugar inside… nyummy…..

Lucky I took this video couple of days a go, so I can enjoy it a bit through video hahaha~~

Arrgghh…wanna have nyummy HoTteok (but without cinnamon ^^)
